Netflix UK price rise September 2026: every way to pay less
What changed
Netflix raised UK prices for new sign-ups on 3 September 2026, and existing members get a month's notice before it applies to them. Current monthly prices: Standard with ads £7.99, Standard £13.99, Premium £20.99 (source: MoneySavingExpert's September 2026 report; check Netflix's own pricing page before you decide).
1. Drop to the ad-supported plan
Standard with ads has the same picture quality and screen count as ad-free Standard, for £6 a month less. The trade-offs: adverts, a few titles missing, a download limit and no extra members. Plan changes are made in your account settings, and downgrades usually apply from your next billing date.
2. Check you are not paying twice
Netflix is bundled into some UK broadband, TV and mobile packages. Check your provider's perks before paying separately.
3. Pause or rotate
Cancel after you finish a series and come back when something new lands. Netflix says you can cancel online with no fee and keep watching until the paid period ends.
4. Match the tier to how you watch
If you pay for Premium (£20.99) but watch on one screen in Full HD, Standard saves £7 a month, £84 a year.
